Our Story

Having made the decision to see the world in our 20’s and 30’s. A group of friends began traveling. A lot of our trips were based around wildlife and safaris. We were fortunate enough to see many beautiful places and meet incredible people working on the front lines of conservation. In our travels we saw first hand the uphill battle wildlife and their habitats were facing. When we would come home after each adventure and share our stories with friends and family, we quickly realized that there was a disconnect between public perception and the realities on the ground. We wondered, ‘In today’s connected world, how is it that more people are not in tune with what’s happening?‘ The truth is people are aware but, if the problem is too large to digest, it’s easier to just ignore it.

So we asked ourselves, ‘How can we cut through the politics and technical jargon and bring it down to a level that everyone can relate to?‘ That’s where the idea for this website came from; “You have to see it, to save it“. We decided to build an online interactive mapping tool that can clearly show the user a list of Endangered iconic Species, how many are left, and where their last strongholds are. The map also shows users where the last wild Places are. Natural Wonders that are vital to the survival of countless species. Hence the name of this website Endangered Wonders.

The goal is educate our visitors about these Species and Places in clear terms, and connect them with resources and prominent organizations working to solve these issues.
